Katie Leaf

Katie believes the best part of architecture is teaming with thoughtful clients to create efficient, unique homes and bring beauty to everyday spaces. Since joining the SALA team in 2013, she has especially enjoyed working with smaller homes, whether those forming the fabric of the urban core or creating the geography of Minnesota’s cabin culture. Katie finds inspiration in the importance of place, drawing from site and context, as well as her clients’ values to create architecture that respects the environment and its neighbors. In addition to residential work, Katie has experience in a variety of other project types including educational, religious, recreational and municipal projects.

Born and raised in Minnesota, Katie has since traveled across the world. She is always looking for moments of extraordinary architecture; for places that move someone out of their expectations of what a space can do. She resides in a 1926 Arts and Crafts bungalow in South Minneapolis and has a family cabin on the South Shore of Lake Superior.
