Jody’s approach to architecture is shaped equally by logic and intuition, with each informing the other throughout the design process. She brings an artistic eye to questions of proportion, material, light, and composition, while grounding decisions in how a building will actually be lived in, built, and cared for. She is drawn to the space between the practical and the poetic, believing the strongest architecture emerges when the two aren’t competing priorities, but part of the same idea. The result is work that feels thoughtful and distinctive, yet natural, comfortable, and deeply connected to its people and place.
Jody brings experience and curiosity, rigor and openness, to the design process. Approachable and easy to talk to, she enjoys the conversations that uncover what clients really value—even when they don’t yet have the words for it. She moves comfortably between the big idea and the smallest detail, helping clients navigate complexity without making the process feel complicated. For Jody, collaboration isn’t separate from design; listening, questioning, and the exchange of ideas are integral to making the work richer.
Born in Ely, Minnesota, and raised in western North Dakota, Jody has deep roots in the landscapes and communities of the Upper Midwest. Her path has taken her from the University of Minnesota to Yale and back to Minnesota, where she has built her practice, taught architecture, and raised a family. She lives in Minneapolis with her husband and twin daughters and is often found at a local swimming pool.
